Dallas, TX – Parker University is proud to announce a major gift from the William M. Harris Foundation funding our Curriculum Reform project. The grant will be distributed in two ways. First, scholarship funds in the amount of $75,000 will provide support to current DC students and practicing DC alumni who wish to take professional success or MBA courses. Secondly, a lecture series that will enable students and faculty to learn from true innovators in practice management and the healthcare marketplace will also be funded in the amount of $35,000.
These programs will be funded immediately and will provide all Parker DC students with access to strong common training in practice management and create a foundation for more specialized instruction that utilizes the talents of faculty across degree and clinical programs.
Parker University is very grateful for the opportunity to work with the William M. Harris Foundation on this project. It is our hope that together we can create the groundwork for a strong partnership that will lead to great benefits for our students, alumni, and the community as well as honor the legacy of William M. Harris.
About William M. Harris
Dr. Harris’ first love was chiropractic however, he was quick to realize that business management was crucial, especially for a young practitioner. The seminars he produced over the years (Practice Consultants) brought in a multitude of people and were responsible for many doctors successfully building their practices. There are buildings at college campuses all over the U.S. with his name, including Palmer University, Northwestern University, Texas Chiropractic College, Logan University, and one soon to be at Life University. He strongly believed in research and felt strongly that there was not enough publicity or educational material to help the public learn of chiropractic.
A shrewd investor, Dr. Harris shared his wealth both with chiropractic and more recently with charitable causes.
